Radiology te Elsene
An essential technique in medical imaging, while respecting radiation protection rules, allows bone analysis using X-rays. Our images are digitized for finer analysis and better transfer of results.

Preparation:
No special preparation required, unless specifically indicated by your doctor. Bring your old X-rays for comparison.
Ultrasound te Elsene
This harmless technique based on ultrasound allows analysis of soft tissues (muscles, tendons, ligaments, breasts, abdomen, thyroid,...). Echo-Doppler is a subdivision of ultrasound, allowing analysis of arterial and venous blood flows, for example in the search for venous or arterial thrombosis.

Preparation:
Preparation varies depending on the area examined: - Abdomen: be fasting and have a full bladder - Gallbladder or intestines: be fasting - Pelvis: have a full bladder
Mammography te Elsene
This technique, based on the use of X-rays, is dedicated to breast analysis. Our fully digitized, state-of-the-art installation allows tomosynthesis for 3D analysis of the breast at minimal radiation (equivalent to 2 to 4 weeks of natural radiation). It enables early detection of breast cancer, supplemented by an immediate ultrasound.

Preparation:
On the day of the examination, do not apply deodorant, cream, powder or lotion to the breasts or armpits.
Bone Densitometry te Elsene
This examination with very low X-ray radiation measures calcium concentration in bones (lumbar spine and hips). It is prescribed in the search for osteoporosis and is sometimes necessary to access reimbursement for certain osteoporosis treatments. Unfortunately, this examination is not reimbursed by INAMI.

Preparation:
No special preparation is required for this examination.
Conebeam-CT te Elsene
This "mini-CT scanner" allows examination of the skull and extremities with very low radiation, much lower than a usual CT scanner. For example, the radiation of an ankle CT equals that of an ankle X-ray, while obtaining a 3D volume. The examination allows analysis of sinuses, jaw, teeth, upper and lower limbs, including arthrography. The cervical spine, shoulder and hip can also be imaged with this technique. This examination is also reimbursed.

Preparation:
No special preparation is required. Remove all metal objects from the area to be examined (jewelry, piercings). For arthrography, you will receive specific instructions.
Infiltrations & Biopsies under ultrasound te Elsene
We are at your disposal for any ultrasound-guided interventional procedure. We perform corticosteroid or hyaluronic acid infiltrations in joints or for certain tendinitis. Since September 2020, we have also gained experience in PRP infiltration (Platelet-Rich Plasma) with or without hyaluronic acid, for the treatment of tendinitis (epicondylitis, Achilles tendon, ...) or joint conditions (especially gonarthrosis). We also perform thyroid cytopunctures and breast cytopunctures and microbiopsies.

Preparation:
Absolutely report any use of anticoagulants. A rest period may be necessary after the procedure. Specific instructions will be given when making the appointment, depending on the type of procedure.
Note: Unfortunately, the authorities do not allow us to perform MRI and CT-scans, but only ConeBeam-CT (CBCT). Do not hesitate to contact us by phone for any questions.

Are X-rays dangerous?
X-rays are a form of ionizing radiation. Exposure is strictly controlled and limited to the absolute necessary minimum. Our modern equipment and protocols guarantee an optimized dose for each examination. The diagnostic benefit is always weighed against the risk of exposure.
What if I am pregnant or think I might be?
It is crucial to inform the radiologist or medical staff if you are pregnant or think you might be. Some examinations may be postponed or replaced by alternatives without radiation (such as ultrasound) to protect the fetus.
How does reimbursement work?
If you are affiliated with a health insurance fund, you only pay the co-payment (your share). We apply the third-party payer system, which means we collect the remaining amount directly from your health insurance fund. Special cases: - Screening mammography: free between 50 and 69 years (every 2 years) - Bone densitometry: reimbursement under specific conditions every 5 years
How can I pay?

How do I access my results?
After your examination, you will receive access to PACSonWEB to view your images and reports online. These results are also sent directly to your prescribing physician.
